    "In case there is interest....."?????
    WAY understatement of the CENTURY!!

Seriously, I think BOTH Course Records can fall.
Kamworor is said to be in fantastic shape.
And we have a LOADED field of Women.

Kara Goucher has the fastest US time for the course----and that should fall today!
Kamworor could take a minute off the CR!

Weather will be almost perfect for fast marathoning---temps around 50, little wind, low humidity.

    But can Shalane win again?
Or will Molly pull a shocker?

ESPN2 will have the full race, beginning at 6 a.m., Pacific time!
    I'll be watching!

    ADD--Will Bernard Lagat try for a sub-2:10?
I know he wants the US "Masters" record of 2:12 & change!
If this were 2-3 years earlier.....!!!

After years of bitching about NBC's Olympic coverage I can't believe I'm saying this, but: PLEASE give the NYC coverage back to NBC. We're 40 minutes into the women's race and I think they've show a total of about 30 seconds of it.

OK, serious work has begun, as Charboneau falls back & Keitany, Flanagan, Linden, Cheruiyot, Huddle ett al click off low 5:20 miles!
First half in 1:15:10----about one full minute faster than 2017!

But last half in '17 was sub-1:11.

Women averaged 5:03 for the last 5km. Not sure that the front three, Keitany, Gudeta and Tusa, will be able to keep it up, and the next four are 40 seconds back but still going quite quickly, Huddle, Flanagan, Daska, and Cheruiyot. and Gudeta just backed off the front group.

And from 15-18 the average is 5:01-, with Keitany going alone now.

And the men at 9:30 for the last two miles, 12-14. They are down to five.

This is as good as London, etc., without pacers etc so that the first miles are more modest and the racing later is faster. For the last 5 miles Keitany hit 25:03! and then 30:04 for the last six, the 10km will be insanely fast; it is 15:53 with the last mile slowing to 5:05!
