It begins tomorrow with a 201-km sprinters' stage, but can anyone stop Chris Froome from riding into Paris in yellow again?

Speaking of Froome, Team Sky just released a bunch of physical and nutritional data on him that some of you might appreciate.

My friend Bert is semi-boycotting le Tour this year, because of the Froome doping exoneration. I could give you his # and you two can argue again about doping! :-)

Maybe Richie Porte will challenge him?

It's a race in France....why anyone cares about who is taking what is beyond me....before it was on television did any of these puritans even follow cycling? In my experience they don't know much about the sport.

Porte is my pick, if he can stay upright. Froome is about to find out why no clean rider has pulled off the Giro/Tour double since Indurain in '93.

My wife is ready. Ready to tell me who is who, what team is what team. I just wait for the climbs through dense forests of crazy french folk, wearing too much or nothing at all. Didn't Armstrong come crashing down when his handlebar caught a woman's purse? Next favorite part is the downhill at 60 m.ph. on roads that I wouldn't take a car down at 40 m.p.h. And of course the helicopter shots of beautiful villas, castles, towns.

Yes I remember watching in 2003 when Armstrong caught the spectator's bag....went down just like that....

99.9% of the public couldn't ride along on a motorcycle and not crash....it's insane and great fun to watch....

I may DVR stages and catch up if the stage sounds interesting. I don't follow cycling like a used to. A friend's kid rides for BMC (he's not at the Tour) so I route for them these days. Froome is another nail in the coffin of my enjoyment of cycling.

Today the Tour temporarily stopped after gendarmeries accidentally sprayed riders with teargas.

Wild day....The stage leader went over the wall in a spectacular crash not far from where someone died in 1995....this time he got up and finished the stage...
