05-23-2018 01:26 PMApparently not. Mottram was undoubtedly considerably faster through 3000m but such is the hit-or-miss nature of "record by split", even in a later edition of the same meet, as in this case.
Pertinent for this weekend, with another fast 2-mile field scheduled with a very realistic chance of bettering Kipchoge's split mark, and Paul Chelimo in that mix.

05-23-2018 09:47 PMI took a look and it is on youtube. Mottram did make his move to the lead just in time that he would have gotten the honor if the 3000m split had been taken but, alas, no indication or announcement.
Colorful post-race interview.

05-30-2018 12:14 AMUpon further review of gm's authoritative list in post #9 of this thread, I note that the overall all-comers' best for women's mile is accorded to Doina Melinte's indoor mark.
By the same logic the men's all-comers' 3000m best should be recognized as Hagos Gebriwhet's 7:32.87i in Boston on 2/2/13, avoiding any issue of Kipchoge's Eugene split..
On the original subject of this thread, American bests on American soil, Ajee Wilson achieved that distinction this past weekend with her 1:56.86 second place finish at the Prefontaine Classic. This bettered Meredith Valmon's mark of 1:57.04 that had stood since the Atlanta Trials.
Following are American bests in events not already listed in this thread as overall all-comers' bests. Corrections welcome.

05-30-2018 04:58 AMOn the men’s side, I’d guess the 400 and sp are closest to being vulnerable.
