The Decathlon has started with a very good field. So far, some pretty good performances

    1 Tim Duckworth Kentucky [SR] 2778 999 10.40 1068 8.03 711 13.71
    2 Karl Saluri Georgia [SR] 2661 959 10.57 975 7.66 727 13.97
    3 Johannes Erm Georgia [FR] 2598 863 10.99 1005 7.78 730 14.02
    4 Maicel Uibo Unattached 2521 834 11.12 915 7.42 772 14.71
    5 Cody Walton Nebraska [SR] 2496 819 11.19 922 7.45 755 14.43
    6 Markus Leemet South Carolina [SR] 2484 876 10.93 828 7.06 780 14.84
    7 Cale Wagner Nebraska [SO] 2423 883 10.90 859 7.19 681 13.23
    8 Jared Seay Nebraska [JR] 2331 894 10.85 767 6.80 670 13.04

They are just starting the HJ. Meanwhile, Grauvogel is at 2638 after running 13.16/1100, but then 5-7/1.72 and 11.97. 200 up soon. Now in, LG ran 23.69/1011 and is now at 3749; she had 5616 here last year and her 200 and 100h are much better here, although she was off a meter in the SP and 3cm off her PR of this year in the HJ.

In the Deca, both Uibo and Duckworth hit 2.13/9.25 and are at 3703 and 3446

In the LJ, Orji has hit 6.71 (and 6.67), Davis, 6.63, and Hall 6.54

Mr. Duckworth is an odd duck (yuk-yuk).

He's superb at the runs and jumps, pretty bad at the throws and 1500.

He PRed in the first 4 events and came close in the 400 - for a 4568.

But his 2nd day is weak. PRs add up to 3874. He should PR overall, and since he's on a PR tear, he should exceed 8300. Once he learns to throw and gets some endurance, he could be formidable!

His 110h mark of 14.35/0.5 (Florida Relays) is OK but weak compared to his 10.40/1.0 speed. He has one 15:00 1500 from 2016 but was just 5:15 last year (but maybe he had little incentive to run fast. His PV/5.16 and JT/57m are not bad so if he runs good hurdles and has an incentive to run hard then he could get a pretty decent score of 8400.

Irby, by the way, ran a 22.66/1.1 200 pretty much solo (second was 23.98).

He's become the 19th Brit to long jump 8.00m with 8.03. That's also further than Daley Thompson's best legal jump (8.01 at the LA Olympics).

He is having a rather mediocre second day, even for him. He just went out after clearing 4.67, half a meter (and 150 points) below his 5.16. He did hit 44.12/177 PR in the discus and his 110h was ok at 14.59/0.2 but his PR is 14.30/2.0. He should still get a good score, but a PR-level PV would have made it potentially a very good score (or more).

8407 PR for Maicel Uibo by a 61 points in less than ideal conditions. Old PR 8356 according to IAAF.org.

Duckworth finishes with a PR 8145.
