I'm surprised they invited him at all, that he, without a global championship or a US passport, has celebrity outside track & field and Canada.
(not because he wouldn't deserve any, just because of the lack of popularity of our sport)

Maybe his agent pushed for it; they didn't necessarily invite him of their own accord. And the NBA has a global audience, possibly with more TV viewers outside the US than inside. De Grasse is well known outside Canada in countries where track & field is popular.

The NBA celebrity game is fairly low intensity, a bit a jumping and jogging the court. I think its pretty unlikely anyone would get hurt, I watched it one year and I'm sure its much lower intensity than a celebrity rugby game would be
