That's what they said about MJ's 19.32. Look where that got us.

Based on his stated interests on twitter, he appears not interested. Schwartz is going to Auburn where they will allow him to participate in both football and track. Shaun Shivers, who's run under 21.0 for 200m (not sure of wind) is also going to compete in both which is interesting since Shivers is 5 foot 6.

Walton ran 44.99 last year. I don't think a 3 tenths improvement is all that far fetched.

I think Herron or Walton could get it. Herron will be in the 45s soon this year. That said, 44.69 is a crazy, crazy mark with all sorts of question marks. 44.9 is about the top end for a high school sprinter.

    Several things of note there:

    1. He went out hard with another runner (who died)
    2. He didn't die.
    3. He ran through the line, as opposed to 95% of HS 400-runners who visibly slow 10m from the line.
    4. After he finished, he kept walking briskly; he wasn't totally spent.

He seems well coached AND well trained.
    He has intensity.
    I don't see a flash-and-burn candidate.
