Only a few will have any idea of the title of this thread. Raymond "PouPou" Poulidor died yesterday, the greatest cyclist never to win the Tour de France. In fact, Poulidor rode in the late 1950s and 60s and still holds the record for the most podium finishes (8) at the Tour. He had 3 seconds and 5 thirds. The more amazing fact is that he never once wore the maillot jaune as the race leader. He rode in the era of Jacques Anquetil, the man who could drop nobody, but could never be dropped, and he just could never get past Anquetil, who won 5 Tours.
