I give a hint: three of these five competitions actually were in big championships (national and/or international)

@LopenUupunut: Whooo - this is close, but not correct. I had no idea about Tyshkevich. As I see, she actually participated in ten (!) shot put world record competitions. So she is a good name for my 2nd question.

Have an unusual answer to this question. Nelson Prudencio of Brazil. In competitions where WRs were set (consecutive), it could be argued. BUT Gentile's first breaking of Schmidt's record was in the prelim round at Mexico City. WRs followed in the final, with Gentile, then Saneyev, then Prudencio himself, then Saneyev. (Prudencio got the silver medal in Mexico City). He also got the silver behind Perez in Cali in 1971, when a new WR was set.

Robert Shavlakadze (?) behind Brumel? Somebody behind Bubka who would set WR's 1cm at a time to make more money? Someone behind Ron Clarke?

@1runner1: Robert Shavlakadze is also not correct. Bubka and Clarke are good ideas, but also don't lead to the answer.

@Per: No, Steve Backley also is not correct.

I give another hint: The first (and only the first) of these five competitions was held in North America.

I don't think Brumel did that 1 cm at a time thing in his era for the money
