Abele 31 points ahead of Behrenbruch after 9 events, looks like we won't be seeing the defending champion in Zürich.

Lilli Schwarzkopf wins with 6426p ahead of Claudia Rath 6314p, Tyminska third with 6266p.
So Schwarzkopf, Schäfer and Rath should be the german selection for Zürich. If Schwarzkopf continues to improve she may get close to the medals.

Absolutely. The only Europeans higher than her on the lists this year who are participating in Zurich are Schippers and Broersen, so she has to start as a medal favourite. She also has the experience at that level.
It will be interesting to see if Schafer can improve, sore back permitting, and we know that Rath takes a few competitions to get to her best form. There is definitely a changce for 'a German woman' to get on the podium, especially with it beng virtually a home Games

Tymi?ska is doing another heptathlon this weekend (the Euro Cup in Toru?), so I suspect she might not have been going all out in Ratingen. The goal was to get the Polish federation's EC qualifier of 6150, and she did that comfortably. Here's hoping she can still improve enough to be a contender in Zurich.

Defending champs get an automatic invite like the WC, right? Germany should be able to have 4 entries in the decathlon (as long as Behrenbruch is one of them).
