Payton Jordan men's 5000m...predictions.

The loaded race 1 of the Payton Jordan Invite men's 5000m should be a great race. I'll be watching it Sunday night on Flotrack and it will be interesting to see how Centro does against the Bowerman Club guys. His father was a great 5000m racer but Centro junior hasn't really tested himself in a high quality 5000m yet. Can't wait to see the race.

Agreed. Will be interested to see if the BTC guys designate a rabbit from among themselves or if the meet organizers get someone to do the chores. And then, they HAVE to be shooting for sub-13. Makes no sense for someone to go out in 13:20 pace. Maybe 13:05 pace and hope to wind it up at the end?

I do not think that this is a big deal and a place where they are 'facing off'. It is not Centro's event and does not play to his strength [I doubt he is a good enough 5000 guy to be able to sit at a fast pace and kick a la Mo Farah, so what is the point of doing so for sixth]. Thus, this is a season build up for him at a pace that is not too fast and he will likely fade at the end if he stays up with the big dogs.

I am interested (surprise) in Mo Ahmed does here; remember that he has better credentials at the distance races the last two championship meets [9th and 10 at the WC and OGs and was right near the lead with 500 yards remaining) than all but one guy in the race and yet almost no one has even mentioned him at all. I suspect he is not in peak shape and the 5000 is not his stronger event but he is my primary interest in this race.

Could be...but don't overlook Ryan Hill and Lopez Lomong. And even Diego Estrada could be in the mix. It's going to be the best 5000m of the season in the USA!

I would not be surprised if Hill has a better finish in a 5000 than Centro.
