Liliya Shobukhova banned for two years

Story on the front page. It'll be interesting to see who they catch in the future using the biological passport. Also, this explains why she wasn't heard from for all of 2013 or the spring of 2014.

She missed the 2013 season because she was pregnant. A two-year ban is a laughable punishment, seeing as she recently said she wasn't planning to return to competition until next year (although she could have already known about the ban at that point) but that's not really the point.

I think it's high-time the Andrey Baranov-managed athletes are barred from WMM races. Shobukhova and Abitova, first and second in the 2010 London Marathon, are both from that stable, along with former Tokyo Marathon winner Tatyana Aryasova. In fact, he's managed the six fastest Russian marathon-runners of all-time which casts a lot of doubt over past performances.

The story on the front page says the highlight of her track career came in 2006 when she won the 3,000m World Indoor Championships crown in Moscow, and the 5,000m European Champions title in Gothenburg. No, she did not win in Moscow nor in Gothenburg.

It seems the biological passports are kicking in big time. I'm looking forward to being more confident in a cleaner sport in future.

Not really complaining, but because of Shobukhova, I now am forced to change my T&F Record Book in the following ways:

A new Age 33 record for the Women's Marathon.
    A new Russian National record.
Someone to fill spot # 24 on my Top 24 Performers list.

Oh woe is me!!
