There are other relay threads, so I thought I would start this one for an event that used to be in my back yard.

I am a little over an hour away and was going to go to the distance carnival tonight, but I see they aren't holding 10Ks this year. In fact, my failing memory thinks they may have dropped them the last few years. Anyway, I think I'm going to stay home and watch Flotrack.

Elise Cranny with an outdoor HSL, going 2:06.61, winning her section - just off her indoor HSL of 2:06.47. Alexa Efraimson will try the 800 also this weekend, at the Oregon Relays.

Erin Finn ran a super PR of 15:41.
Okay, she didn't win, but she's one of my favorite athletes (for her front-running style!), so happy to see her having a great freshman year!

Winner was Meref Bahta in 15:30.37.
Abbey D was 3rd, and 1st Collegian, just 0.56 behind Bahta.
Emma Bates ran 15:33, and Jordan Hasay ran 15:34.
    (A PR for Hasay??)
Among those Finn beat was.....Brenda Martinez, who also ran 15:41, about 0.15 behind Finn.

Can't wait to see video of the race.
Wondering if Finn front-ran THIS field!!

Ben Saarel was scheduled to be in the 1500 here at Mt. SAC... instead ran over at nearby Bryan Clay meet, beating Austin Mudd in the 1500 there in 3:41.54.

Flotrack Pro has the video up for the entire race.

I watched the meet last night and the video quality was crappy so went to bed right before the women's 5K, not realizing the loaded field. Abby D. must have run half that race from lane 2.

The IAAF website lists Hasay's previous 5K PR as 15:37.29, so yes, this should be a new PR for her. I also learned that Martinez has a PR of 15:35 from last year. I think she can get way better than that, given her speed and range.

Hey, Willie Gault is running the 100 today in the master's race!

Yes, I watched the race on FlotrackPro it was a fascinating race...the women's invite 5000m ...Martinez was leading with a few laps to go which surprised me, as I thought she'd just hang with the leaders and then kick at the end, Instead she led and then faded.
