The prep outdoor season is underway in many states. Here's one of the first surprise performances...

Terry Jernigan, who appears to only have run track for a year or two, has a breakout 10.36 (0.3) at the Lake Highland Elite Classic in Florida over the weekend. He had a busy day with heats in both the 100 and 200 (winning in 21.43) and also long jumped.

At the same meet, teammate Kaylin Whitney (US top-10 last year in 100/200 as a frosh) has early season marks just shy of last year's PRs going 11.59 (0.2) and 23.58 (0.5).

And there's a soph girl hurdler, Kimani Rushing of Hallandale (FL) HS, who is already down to 13.87, but the real news is that she decided to try TJing and went 41-0 in her second meet.

Thanks Marlow - a TJ'er with some speed, right up your alley, huh... (Add: I had to go back to 2009 to find a FL girl over 41 feet).
Keep us posted on the FL prep scene - I love seeing exciting underclassmen news.
... and looks like she had a busy day out there Saturday (TJ, w/ heats in both 100H and 300H), Kimani also ran 42.80 in the 300H, not too bad.

    Sarah Baxter had a fair-to-middling 1-2 opener.
    She ran 5:05 and 10:39.

Also Devin King PV'ed 17-4 outdoors.
He's had a great indoor season.

California results starting to trickle in...
Curtis Godin (Mater Dei), a former baseball player til just last year, with a good early season double: 10.50 (0.0?) and 21.29 (0.0?) at the South County Classic

I was basking in the sun over at the PV pit (had a SCar soph girl PR at 12-9). Mid-March is always the start of good weather here.
