Now here's a bit of interesting geography trivia. There are parts of Tennessee located west of the Mississippi River. I never knew this. Also, there are parts of Arkansas located east of the Mississippi. This due the the mighty Mississippi changing its route due to various factors. One tiny Tennessee burg west of the river is called Reverie, recent population was 11. I was told a Tennessee congressman used to have a big cook-out there back in the day. It used to be a lawless area since Tipton County (TN) deputies couldn't get to it very quickly or easily.

Another neat map tid-bit. If you go to Google Earth or Google Maps and go to the extreme NE part of Tennessee -- all the way to the corner of the state -- you will see a small farm that can only be accessed from Virginia. But the guy has cut down all the trees along the border so you can actually see the NE tip of Tennessee even if you take down the border lines from Google.

World fertility rate by country. The US has a Total Fertility Rate of 2.0 - meaning that there is zero to negative population growth without immigration.

Except for Africa, most countries have a TFR below 2.1, which is necessary to maintain a current population.

I count 93 out of 3143 counties. I presume they added the population of the most populous counties until they reached 50% of the US population. There could be infininte combinations of the number of counties totaling 50% of the population.

I found it interesting that Stevens County, Washington, was one that they used.
