    As a PCV in Nepal there were plenty of diseases to catch...but bubonic plague wasn't one of them...That's like 15th century stuff....scary...

    Again, I don't think they give Darwin Awards to obviously risky daredevil stunts, especially those done with publicity. The Darwins should go to something the risk should be obvious, but isn't to the winner. (Taking a selfie with a bear being a classic example.)

    He also attempted a similar stunt at the river in 2013, but drew scorn from onlookers after he was seen escaping from a locked cage through a door. He was reportedly beaten and punched by spectators following the incident, AFP said.

    Oh, my! It looks as if taking selfies with a bear could produce TWO Darwin awards--one for the bear.

    Apropo of nothing: A geologist friend has been married for many years to a Russian woman engineer he met at a Petroleum convention in Houston. She is beautiful, intelligent, charming accent, owns an upscale dress shop, loves American football and exhibits no engineering traits.
