My snarky comments are not appropriate here. But yeah, it looks like the defense team thought they could convince the jury that the killing was a justifiable response to domestic violence. Clearly the defense team failed to convince them.
It will be interesting to see if the alleged abuse is considered in sentencing.

04-01-2016 02:31 PMWe are all inclined to give a woman the benefit of the doubt in cases where there is a well documented record of physical abuse. Most juries will side with the battered wife in these cases and we can only suspect that the defense team knew that. From what I am gathering about the Laut case, there was none and the defense team failed to provide any evidence of abuse. Without that she was exposed.
I watched a few of these dateline documentaries in the past. Every time I left pulling my hair out, or crying or laying in bed furious and disturbed. I now refuse to watch them.Last edited by user4; 04-01-2016 at 11:16 PM.
