11-15-2019 03:46 AMMore from the FT...
"Onions are a core ingredient in most dishes across the country’s rich regional cuisines. Millions of people in India spend more than 50 per cent of their household income on food, and onion-related strife has been linked to the downfall of more than one government since 1980. It is also blamed for the defeat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata party in a local election in 1998."

11-15-2019 01:13 PMAnd here I was thinking that large and growing populations limiting arable land and increased centralized agribusinesses was the cause of reduced supply chains for produce that leads to these price spikes.
Hopefully "The Economist" can weigh in and get us worked up that "climate change" is to blame for the wild fires in California.Last edited by user4; 11-15-2019 at 02:56 PM.

11-26-2019 04:06 PMFrom the Washington Post:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/clima...limate-change/
Headline: In bleak report, U.N. says drastic action is only way to avoid worst effects of climate change
Key info:
Tuesday’s U.N. report offers a grim assessment of how off-track the world remains. Global temperatures are on pace to rise as much as 3.9 degrees Celsius (7 degrees Fahrenheit) by the end of the century, according to the United Nations’ annual “emissions gap” report . . .Last edited by tandfman; 11-26-2019 at 04:08 PM.

The consensus is overwhelming.. we must act now!!!!
One thing I am certain about, if I had to entrust the lives of our loved ones and the fate of humanity to any one body it would certainly be the UN.Last edited by user4; 11-26-2019 at 06:07 PM.
