    From CNN

Hungarian scientists may have found a fifth force of nature

Essentially the entirety of physics centers on four forces that control our known, visible universe, governing everything from the production of heat in the sun to the way your laptop works. They are gravity, electromagnetism, the weak nuclear force, and the strong force.
Scientists at the Institute for Nuclear Research at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Atomki) have posted findings showing what could be an example of that fifth force at work.
The study's lead scientist, Attila Krasznahorkay, told CNN that this was the second time his team had detected a new particle, which they call X17
"X17 could be a particle, which connects our visible world with the dark matter."
    Oh snap!

They'll have to improve from "may have found" to "confirmed" to get a Nobel Prize. That could take years or decades.

That is generally true. But remember, it only took Sheldon and Amy less than a single TV season to go from discovering Quantum Asymmetry to receiving the Nobel prize.

And that will depend on how old Dr. Krasznahorkay is, and whether he can gather potential proteges to continue his work, because he and his current team might be dead before they confirm his findings.

Maybe I should have put a nsfw warning with that. There were a lot of references to excited states.
