What's scary is having Rick Scott, Marco Rubio, and Jeb Bush control your fate but you get what you vote for.

It is convenient to blame local politicians for ignoring the threats posed by climate change. But the real solutions to the problem of global warning, if there are any real solutions, are probably global as well. There was an interesting article in the NY Times the other day, reporting on the recommendations of a report prepared for the United Nations.

Unfortunately, even if these solutions did work, the global consensus and cooperation that it would take to implement them may be beyond the world's capacity for governmental and corporate behavior change.

Dont blame the politicians. Not that it is not an impending problem but the Earth is not static and does not conform to computer modelling.
Coastlines and the continents themselves have been changing for millions of years and will continue to do so, uncaused and unchecked by man.
Some ancient ports are now underwater and some are now inland.
You can either build seawalls and levees or retreat to higher ground...not much you can do about reverse flow through storm drains.
That is just the way it is and will be.

I'm not on the shore but the rising tide is only part of the issue. All parts of the world - on the shore or not will be equally effected.

California authorities labor under the delusion that higher prices for water will cut usage. Meanwhile water use has actually increased in many areas. We are maybe two more drought years away from a mass exodus from the state. Odds are it will rain and snow before that happens. Sorta like the odds were that the US futbol team would never make it out of the Group of Death.
