Good, but not Holzhauer good. He would have been all over the Final Jeopardy question.
But why the hell did she pick Norway? How could they play nice with Hitler? Had to be Franco.

Hitler did occupy Norway in 1940 and set up a puppet regime, so it's not that unreasonable. With Norway's location, though, it would be a natural (and correct) assumption that they were +1 before that.

Oh dear..I have to ask what was the question (answer)?

I looked it up....yes Norway is a very reasonable answer ...the Quisling government came to power in 1940...but as noted it already would have been +1....kind of a trick question.... also Germans occupied France in May 1940....

My first inclination was Italy, but they should be +1 anyway, so who is westernmost and would benefit? Franco. I find that many times I don't know the answer, but can figure it out - which is why JH was Da Man - he knew it without thinking. Truly amazing recall.

Back to normal. The conqueror of Holzhauer lost after just three wins. The next champion lost in his second appearance. The level of play has been very high, and it seems the DD and FJ wagers are pretty aggressive.

The aggressive strategy will probably continue to be popular, but recent results indicate that only with an extraordinary knowledge base like Holzhauer can a long winning streak endure.

This confirms that Holzhauer significantly boosted Jeopardy viewership:

Too much luck in poker to interest me. Any game my 8-year-old granddaughter can beat me in is NOT a good game!

Why not....the entry is about 2 minutes work for him on Jeopardy!...

We had a poker thread once I think...I use to play often at a bar just north of Eugene on 99 as an undergraduate...I made enough to pay my rent....

There is quite a bit of skill in poker...but yes chance does play a big part....you can play a hand like AA perfectly and get beat by some fool playing 2-7 off suit.... but in the long run the fool will end up losing it all....

The World Series is somewhat entertaining...
