There would have been no point in his betting more. As Atticus pointed out, he could have bet it all and still not won--his only hope was that she'd get it wrong.

I just watched it, and as I choked back the tears ( ), I realized that James's undoing was not just that the lady hit both Daily Doubles in DJ, but the middle guy was coming on strong, taking many answers away from James also. It was a perfect storm, and she did great!!

Yeah, I watched it too (first time I saw him), and I agree with Atticus that the other dude helped Emma gang up on him.

I'm not going to watch for a while. I need to mourn his passing!
You are nothing if not weird.

I agree about Jay...the middle guy...likely assisting in the defeat of the robotic James. Clearly he couldn't handle the pressure of being able to overcome the real Jeopardy champ in Ken Jennings.

It was a "perfect storm" with two worthy competitors but also came across to me as a rather lackluster game by James.

He'll pop up somewhere else. The next ToC should be sumpin!
I agree! But the guy was (is) really something. Such amazing quickness. Almost something of a savant but over so many categories. Unreal! Sad to see him go.
