    Re: Retiring in Eugene?

Really wet in the winter in Eugene. That is unless global warming has set in. I suggest Sun River, Oregon, much drier.

Re: Shot putters and clean and jerk

The key is not just pure strength but generating the maximum force to the shot. That requires using all parts of the body, not just the throwing arm. When I won the State meet in HS, every other...

Re: Shot putters and clean and jerk

My personal bests were 230 in the clean and jerk and I threw 55'. Does that help?
  4. Re: Junior Shot Put '14 [Braheme Days 21,16/69'5" 6k]

That is a good mark, but I hope he has not achieved early success in his career and then rather leveled out, ala Jacko Gill. His 70' throw as a junior would be comparable to around 59-61' with the...
  5. Re: Junior Shot Put '14 [Braheme Days 21,16/69'5" 6k]

At least this throw does show some improvement as his sr year in hs was not as good as his jr year.

    Re: RIP Tony Gwinn

Chewing tabacci will do it to you. Glad to see it's gone now in the big leagues. 54 is way to young to pass.
  7. Re: Junior Shot Put '14 [Braheme Days 21,16/69'5" 6k]

Why is Braheme Days playing with the 13lb shot. Time for him to put on his bag boy pants and move to the 16 pounder.

Re: What has happened to Jacko Gill?

Thank you AS for your update. And Marlow, you are right about Crouser, he is improving on a nice balanced schedule in both the discus and the shot.

What has happened to Jacko Gill?

Have not heard anything lately. Is he injured? Is he still a junior? Is he in college or has he decided to go the get strong and throw route? He has great local incentives with Walsh beating his...

    Why Olympians have bad teeth

Interesting information. I never thought hard training was bad for your teeth and gums. That explains why I never became an Olympian.

Re: Kord Ferguson HS shot and discus leader

Can anyone confirm this mark as valid? If true it makes him one of the top prep throwers of all time with the big shot. My problem is that his 12 pound distance is only 5 feet longer which is way...
  13. Why Johnny the jock in the NCAA can't read

This, I believe this type of behavior is common with most colleges. Education of young people is secondary to athletics and the monster salaries of coaches. What a joke our system has become.

19.07i 62-6 Kord Ferguson (unat) Wichita. Holy moly, that is with the 16 lb shot. Very impressive if correct.

Kord Ferguson HS shot and discus leader

Just saw a video of the young man throwing the shot, and I am proud to say he is a glider, not a silly spinner. He spins also, but where it belongs, in the discus. Leads both events this year. ...
  17. Re: bam: College golfers at Masters

One under for the day, Plus 3 for the tourney. He will make the cut but a lot of big names missed. The kid turns 20 on Saturday.
  18. Re: bam: College golfers at Masters

BillVol, the online Masters scoreboard does not have the (A) after the Oliver Goss name. Is he a pro or not?
  19. Re: bam: College golfers at Masters

Billvol, your Aussie Vol guy is the best amateur so far.

Re: Pick the winner, USA or New Zealand

A week ago 99% would have said the Kiwis have a lock on the cup. But the Americans made adjustments to their boat (tuned it up) and improved their boat handling and overcame an 8-1 deficit and now...
