Re: Pre Classic 5000 start list - no Rupp?

It was quite warm down on the track for the 5000, and fairly windy (as it usually is in the afternoon at Hayward).

Just as a paced marathon is almost an entirely different event from a...

Re: USATF & Nike: In bed through 2040!

Devil's advocate: If there are concerns of too much influence by NIKE on USATF, wouldn't such a long-term agreement (assuming the terms are set, and there aren't too many variables, or conditional...

Re: USATF & Nike: In bed through 2040!

Ms. Bergesen is doing some wonderful things for the sport, and she is to be respected. Her response, however, must be viewed through the lens of knowing that she has a financial stake in all this....

    Re: 2015 WC timetable approved

This is Beijing in August… remember '08? Gonna be ugly even w/ an 07:30 start (like Wanjiru had)
As bad as the heat and humidity could be, perhaps a bigger concern might be the air...

    Re: 2015 WC timetable approved

If I'm not mistaken, the marathons have (wisely) been moved to the morning. I seem to remember a 3:30-ish start time in earlier versions of the timetable. Especially important if, as reported...

    2014 USATF Outdoor Champs schedule

    http://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/ ... edule.aspx

    A few notes:

    * 5000s are back to "traditional" Friday night slot

    * At 7:50pm (women's 10,000 start), it'll likely still be close to 80...

Re: Will the athletes boycott Sacramento?

I don't want to take this too far away from T&F either, but what percentage of employees in this country have a contract? I have no idea, but I'd bet it's pretty low.

Re: Will the athletes boycott Sacramento?

I can't speak to every athlete's contract, nor every sponsor's contract, but it's rare to see a clause that stipulates an athlete must compete at the U.S. Outdoor Championships.

    There are often...

Re: World Relays to be in '14 and '15

Out of a top-level pool, yes. There wasn't a logical way to do so from a single selection event, so what they're doing is entirely reasonable. I just wish they'd released the info sooner.

Re: World Relays to be in '14 and '15

So they're announcing how the athletes were selected at the same time the selections are announced?
Not exactly. The selection criteria (just posted, link below), only produce a "pool" of...

    Re: Where is Kim Conley?

They haven't yet announced the 2015 World Champs standards or qualifying window, but the 10,000 window "should" start May 1, as for the past few World Champs cycles, so, yes.
