Beijing will be our 15th tour to the quadennial Games (17th, if you count the Winter version). T&FN Tours is the world's most experienced and successful independent track & field tour operation, with almost 10,000 satisfied Games clients since Helsinki in 1952.

The Beijing tour package is very similar to what we've offered in the past, and it includes:

  • Tickets to all evening track & field sessions
  • 3-star hotel lodging for 12 or 18 nights (your choice). 12 nights would be for the track & field period, 18 nights for the entire Games.
  • Busing to and from the stadium area (The Olympic Green complex which is the venue for 15 sports, including track & field, swimming, gymnastics. ceremonies, etc.)
  • Breakfast daily
  • Airport transfers
  • Gala tour luncheon party with invited athletes and coaches
  • Daily newsletter during track & field prepared by the T&FN staff
  • Opportunity to purchase tickets to morning track, other sports, ceremonies, as available
  • City sightseeing tour, plus a day trip to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs.
  • Optional group travel extensions elsewhere in China, before and after the Games
  • Tour accessories and literature to prepare you for full appreciation of the action on the track
  • The expertise, leadership and services of the world's most experienced track & field tour organization.

All our tour members will be housed at the Loong Garden Hotel (formerly a Crowne Plaza), which is conveniently located in the northwest section of the city, near the 5th ring road. We estimate the trip to the Olympic Green to take no more than 30 minutes. At the hotel complex there are a variety of restaurants, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, child care center, and facilities for tennis, squash, basketball, etc.

The tour price depends on the kind of room you select and your length of stay. At this point, the only rooms available are two-bedroom suites and superior studios. For 12 nights those prices range from $6565-6995 per person, double occupancy; $7395-$7990, 18 nights.

At this time, the required deposit is $5700 per person for the 12-night tour, $6250 for the 18-night tour. Final payment will be due by May 31, 2008. The cancellation fee is currently just $150 per person, plus any funds T&FN has paid on your behalf that cannot be retrieved from our suppliers if we cannot find a replacement for you.

The dates are August 8 through 24. Opening Ceremony would be on the 8th, and naturally Closing on the 24th. The 18-night tour would be: In August 7, Out August 25. Track & field takes place near the end of the Games and the 12-night tour dates would be: In August 13, Out August 25. Track & field will be held over nine days, August 15-23.

Currently four tour programs are planned. Note that only 12-night members would be able to take a Pre tour. Current deposit is $1500 per person/per extension tour. For cancellations after October 1, 2007, the cancellation fee is $100 per person plus any funds T&FN has paid on your behalf that cannot be retrievd from our suppliers if we cannot find a replacement for you.

A. Hong Kong - Guilin (Li River) - Xian (8 nights)

Pre tour August 5-13; Post tour August 25-Sept. 2

Three nights in Hong Kong, with a city tour; fly to Guilin for a great Li River cruise and visit to Guilin; fly to Xian to see the Tomb of the Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di, which is guarded by thousands of terra cotta warriors and horses, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, etc.

$2995 per person double occupancy. Single supplement $915.

B. Shanghai & The Mighty Yangtze River (7 nights)    

Post tour only: August 25-Sept. 2

Four nights in China's most modern city, Shanghai---also one of the largest cities in the world. City tour, plus a full-day excursion to Suzhou (the Venice of the East), with its gardens, silk factory, etc. Fly to Chongqing. After Chongqing city tour, board a luxury cruiser for a 3-nights cruise on the Yangtze, passing through scenic gorges and viewing the Three-Gorges dam construction site, etc.

$2350 per person double occupancy. Single supplement $615.

C. Pandas & Lamas (7 nights-Pre; 8 nights-Post)    

Pre tour August 6-13; Post tour August 25-Sept. 2

Three nights in Shanghai with half-day city tour. Fly to Chengdu and visit Giant Panda Breeding Center and Thatched Cottage of Du Fu. Then to Lhasa, Tibet. Tour to Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street, visit a local family and tour of Norbilingka Palace, Potala Palace, Tibetan Museum.

Pre-Tour $2750 per person, double occupancy; single supplement $465. Post-Tour $2895 per person double occupancy. Single supplement $518.
