Is A Sub-2:00 Marathon Realistic?

All the kids are talkin’ about it: a sub-2-hour marathon. Athlete agent Jos Hermens and Yannis Pitsiladis, a sports physiologist at the UK’s Brighton University—with a team of scientists on board—were first to target the goal—in ’14 on a 5-year timeline.

And in December the game-change got quicker, with Nike, followed by archrival adidas, announcing it too is in the sub-2 chase. (See PDF below for full article, which ran in the March, 2017 issue of Track & Field News)
