Recruiting Ratings: Texas A&M Women No. 1
The just-published January edition of T&FN, which highlights collegiate recruiting, includes our annual ordering of the schools with the best new classes. The Aggies top the women's side.
1. Texas A&M
Pat Henry’s perennial Nationals contenders started with the year’s biggest catch, HS-recordsetting discus thrower Shelbi Vaughan (198-9), who was also an All-Am in the shot (50-1¾).
Fellow Texan Jennifer Madu (11.49, 24.03/23.66w, 19‑8¾/20-¾w, 42-9¾) was also a double All-Am, rating No. 2 in the 100 and No. 1 in the triple jump.
Other yearlings who may help right away are javelin thrower Kendall Munoz (151-5) and high jumper Darby Graff (5-10).
But the across-the-spectrum signings didn’t stop there, as the JC ranks provided not only 55.80 hurdler Janeil Bellille but also the ’10 HS Athlete Of The Year, Ashton Purvis (11.17, 22.90).
There’s a reason the Aggies are the early-line favorites to win next year’s NCAA crown.
