Oregon Moves Up, Arkansas & Texas Down

Johnson RobertThe ebb and flow of a season has been well illustrated by our crystal-balling of the women’s Nationals. Our first formchart of the year had Arkansas and Oregon tied for the No. 1 spot at 53, with Texas 3rd at 50.

Just 2 weeks later, in compilation No. 2, the Hogs added a point, the Ducks dropped 3 and Texas added 3, meaning that Arkansas was a point ahead of Texas, with Oregon another 3 back.

Iteration 3 has brought quite a bit more clarity at the top of the heap, where Robert Johnson’s Ducks now have a 7-point bulge over Arkansas, which in turn is 3 ahead of the Longhorns. It would appear that only this trio of powerhouses has a realistic shot at the overall crown.

As currently construed it could come down to the last event at Hayward Field, although if this formchart holds true, there might not be a lot of drama. The score going into the climactic 4x4 would be Oregon 55, Arkansas 49 and Texas 37.

Texas is favored to win that race, but even that 10 points wouldn’t be enough to put them over the top. And Oregon is favored by a place (7th and 8th) over Arkansas. So even if Oregon didn’t even make the race, Arkansas would have to finish at least 3rd to pass the Ducks.
