Speaking apolitically, his speech bothers me from a historical perspective.

I think there has been good reason why the opposition party has never brought in heads of state to oppose the Executive Branch's foreign policy with speeches on the House floor. Congress isn't the UN.

It's unfortunate the offer was made. As for the acceptance I'm not surprised at the arrogance.

I wonder what our Jewish posters think about him declaring himself the King of the Jews. Dianne Feinstein certainly didn't appreciate it.

The invitation was appalling. The reception was appalling. Sticking it to the President in his own country. Unreal!

    Unreal?
    Really?

This was the THIRD time Netanyahu spoke to a joint session of Congress.

The reception by the DEMOCRAT LIBERALS was appalling.

Sticking it to the President in his own country?
Well deserved, to the most ANTI-Israel, PRO-Muslim President this country has had since Israel's birth as a nation!

    Appalling?
    Unreal?

How about that the USA President REFUSED to meet with the Honorable Prime Minister of (supposedly) America's greatest friend in the Middle East?

How about that the USA Secretary of State made sure he was OUT of the country on the day of the speech?

    THAT is appalling!
    THAT is unreal!!

Well, aaronk just insured that this thread will be killed shortly. As for the over-the-top reception by some member of the Congress, it can be explained by the fact that they know they're all being watched, and most members of Congress, especially Republicans contemplating a Presidential run, are wary of displeasing AIPAC, big money donors (eg. Sheldon Adelson) and Evangelical Christians. Rand Paul is being eviscerated by the National Review, the Washington Post, FOX News and talk radio for not being enthusiastic enough with his applause.

Yeah, the congress should never clap when a foreign head of state speaks to them. They should only clap when their own president insults and slanders them for an hour.

Amazing how every side can see the other side as political and brain dead.
